Making A Difference (MAD) Sisters is a legally registered Community Based Organization in Kibera- Kenya; the second largest urban slum in Africa.
The birth of MAD Sisters was inspired by lived experiences of the founding team who grew up in Kibera witnessing realities of engendered effects of challenges in the informal settlement. This include but not limited to Sexual and Gender based violence, early marriage, school dropout. Having been rescued from by well- wishers, MAD Sisters reach out to girls and women in Kibera to give them a chance to change their stories too.

Outstanding organization in combating COVID 19 in Kibera
12th August 2020 during International Youth Day, MAD Sisters was among the youth organizations acknowledged and awarded by Kibera Community Emergency Response Team in partnership with UNHABITAT, for their efforts towards combating COVID-19 in the Kibera Community.
Queen’s Young Leaders Award
Susan Mueni the Founder and Executive Director at MAD Sisters was awarded by Her Majesty the
Queen at the Buckingham palace in June 2016. This was at the Queen’s Young Leaders Award.
